Prophecies is what makes Guild Wars, Guild Wars. Others might disagree but this is simply opinion, but it really does make sense to the older players. Fac & NF don't feel like Guild Wars or deserve that name to me at all. Prophecies is how GW should be, but I have a feeling they made Factions and NF faster to cater to their short attention span population of players and ultra laziness. Imagine how awesome Fac and NF would be if they were designed with normal paced character development and exploration in mind.

I agree with you, but Factions and Nightfall had to offer quicker levelling so they'd make decent expansions for Prophecies characters - who'd want something to challenge their end-game characters.

Now That We Are On The subject Of Pre-Searing Leveling (Sort OF)...
Thanks for all your posts, and on a note: I do not hate Pre-Searing, it's just that the leveling is so slow and you barely get any Gold (I've only collected 200 through level 4).
And on another note:
Where would you recommend I level my W/Mo while he is level 4 (I plan on leveling him to about level 7). So where should I level him LvL's 4 - 7? Or should I just do quests to level him... Would that be quicker? Seems like it wouldn't though... Thanks In Advance!

The money to be made in Pre-searing is from farming charr and Nicholas drops. I think some people farm Catacombs too cause it supposedly has "higher" drop rates for dye. But as other have stated the charr bosses in Pre will drop green charr bags and charr salvage kits. I'd just run quests from lvl 4-7. Just run around the maps looking for your profession trainers and there are several quests in the town that Devona is at, not to mention usually a few both inside and outside each town/outpost. Once you hit lvl 8 you can team up with someone to hunt charr across the wall, wouldn't recommend going over there any sooner than that though.

Sucks for you then, because they're much better games. Prophecies was... a test subject, if you will. Once they did that, they continually refined Guild Wars, and the campaigns show the clear progress of their work.
Particularly Nightfall. The inclusion of things such as heroes and inscriptions really demonstrated that ArenaNet knew how to make a game.
I can't see how you'd enjoy Prophecies for any reason other than nostalgia.

Prophecies is mostly empty. Enemies should have been level 20 with elites from Lion's Arch, and there should have been quests taking you to most places.
Unless you do Mox quests, vanquishing and all zaishen quests, there is no reason to visit most of the map.
You can even skip a lot of missions and get directly to the last 4. They should have let anyone visit any outpost anytime, but missions should not start unless you have made the previous ones (much like Nightfall missions don't turn into mission outposts untill you have made the previous primary quests and missions), just without having to make all mission on a region before being able to enter the next. I mean: "Visit the whole map as you please, but do the missions in a proper order".
The worst of all is that everything is pushed towards the end. In the other campaigns, you get the signet of capture quest when you get to level 20 areas and meet enemies with capturable elites.
In Prophecies, you get the signet of capture quests Waaay before you met the first level 20 with capturable elite. They are so crowded that enemies must share areas, and do not always appear on a map.
And you are forced to capture inside missions, while in the other campaigns, almost every elite that is found inside a mission has non-mission counterpart. (I think the only exception is a warrior elite in Factions)
They made lots of great improvements in game design in Factions and Nightfall, but they didn't make changes backwards, excepting the endgame credits for Prophecies and the Lip-sync.
So... try not to make all your characters in Prophecies. It's an empty place anyways.
I have 4 prophecies, 3 Factions and 3 Nightfall, covering all professions.

Just do what you think is best.
Oh, right. Ah, actually it all depends on what you want out of the experience. The charr in old ascalon are ridiculously easy if you bring a level 20 character to stomp them...
So if you want a challenge, either do that in hard mode or better yet, just play through Prophecies from the start.
It is not as slow as it might seem. And the story is actually quite good - doing optional quests feels like contributing to the war effort and/or your character's development in their professions.
Sure. Compared to Factions it's slow. But we're talking 24 missions vs 13 here. And Northern Tyria is just a tad larger than Cantha is...
So, is it worth it? Depends. If all you want is a fast ticket to Hell's Precipice so you can put another "campaign completed" check mark on your to do list, then no, it probably isn't worth starting over.
If your goal is to experience the story though, then yes, it's definately worth it. No matter how slowly you go about it.

there is a HUGE pre-searing community. I have 2 permanent pre-searing characters (one for farming nic stuff)....
sometimes its nice to go back to where things were pretty to look at, easy to do and didnt require a specific skill set!
Prophecies was a beautiful chapter ...even after factions came out. Now its 5 years old and shows some of its age. Yes there are still missions I dont like doing in prophecies--but there are ones I hate doing in nightfall as well. The best thing now about prophecies is all of the mission are do-able with h/h EASILY (I just figured out how to beat eternal grove nm with h/h...wasnt pretty) even by a casual player.
And the BEST thing about prophecies---free skills quests!!! I always bring my canthans or elonians over for a few freebies.

i love pre-searing i just can't stand the missions that follow it before LA, good thing you can just run past them ^^;
to be honest even though prophecies isn't my favourite i can't get enough of random travelling throughout the continent.
pre-searing is one of the most atmoshperic places in the game if you don't want to make it boring i guess you should just do the quests to get out of pre quickly even if i'm going through i always keep a char there

No, they're talking about the Charr Bags. Which are theoretically available to anyone if they go across the wall and kill the charr bosses.

If you want you can hook up with me in pre for a bit. I have a level 16 necro (off and on LDOA character) I would be glad to spank some charr for you so you can level up quick. PM me if you want. You just have to keep yourself alive and behind me, if you are lucky a charr boss may drop a charr bag for you...

pre sear is pretty cool, because its pretty and doesnt have the doom and glood atmosphere the rest of the game does (and all other titles). What I don't like is from the start of post-searing to lion's arch. The maps are dull and drab, those stupid devourers are always popping up to slow things down, the maps are huge and long with few outposts, no heroes so you gotta slum it up with low level henchies, and the quest rewards positively suck.
edit: the skill rewards are nice though

The story line of prophecies is very nice imo. If u haven't see it, i suggest u to go try watch it. The game is just more fun in prophecies.
And I created my ele and mes in proph even when F and NF was out, just because of the hair style.
also, I think leveling in NF is just horrible I just created a para there and instead of two more mission, Anet needs u to achieve certain rank of Sunspears to continue. Grinding just isn't my cup of tea.

<--- Prophecies character. Now tell me, is she ugly? You would really turn your back on this girl if she came up and started hiting on you in real life? Well, being female myself I can't speak for the guys, but to say all the characters in Prophecies are ugly means you haven't really played Prophecies. (p.s. The male ranger toons are really good looking, lol).

Personally, I started my recent attempt at GWAMM on a proph char, skiped presearing, grabed a run to LA, dwarven boxed until I hit 20, and then continued proph from Gates of Kyrta. It's not like presearing and the first part of postsearing is bad, I've just spent so much time in those areas back when I first played the game that I'm bored with the content.
I enjoyed proph (aside from the jungle areas) because it had a good plot and the characters weren't abominations to look at or listen to (Danika and Kormir, for example). You also have acess to some decent endgame skins if you beat proph.

Sounds like you never really played through the game properly. Certainly the first time I went through I did everything there was, but those were the days when exp and gold were precious.
These days, its make a char in cantha and be lvl 20 by the end of the day.

I always keep a char in pre searing, it's the best looking part of the game. On the American servers you can always find people chatting and it has nice dye drops. Oh and nicholas of course
